The TOVA Mentoring Network
Do you remember a person from your childhood who you looked up to? Someone other than your parents, someone you respected but who didn’t act like an authority figure?
Some children need additional supportive, caring adults in their lives. TOVA provides that opportunity and advantage…a mentor who is also a friend and a guide.
Mentors provide one-on-one time and attention once a week during or after the school day to children in grades fourth through high school. Mentors do simple things like playing sports, going over schoolwork, taking walks or just simply hanging out together. It’s the relationship that develops while doing these everyday activities that makes the difference.
TOVA works closely with parents and schools to match them with the right mentor. Every mentor is screened, trained and supervised by a professional in youth development to oversee the match and help ensure the safety of everyone involved.
